Digital imaging craftsmanship

In short:

Jo quan començava a aprendre a tocar el violoncel

Myself in my beginnings learning the cello

I’m a visual artist. When I was a child I already drew and paint a lot. So when I grew up I went to study Fine Arts at the university, because I wanted to be something like a painter. In my way, though, I discovered other things, generally speaking about the life and about other artistic processes in particular. It’s for this reason that since some years ago I’m specializing in creation with digital tools, especially in 3D, and I also teach other people about the same tools and processes that I’m using.

or in 8 short paragraphs:

My name is Raimon Guarro i Nogués, and I’m a visual artist. I have a bachelor in Fine Arts. I was born in Barcelona and I live partially in this city and in a really small village called Montclar, in the middle of Catalunya. I work mainly with digital tools and especially in 3D, but I’m interested in visual expression in general.

Paradoxically, it was while studying Fine Arts that I left painting and drawing. Since I’m gifted for drawing and it would be a pity to not practice it, I took it again since three years ago, and I go almost one time per week to the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc. At my Instagram you can see some of the drawings I do there.

Also in Instagram you can see some photos. Every time I go to a place where I still never have been I try to capture in photography everything that could inspire me creatively afterwards. From a conventional landscape to an abstract texture. I still have a long way to go into photography and my current knowledge is mainly what they taught me in some optional courses at the Fine Arts faculty. Useful but also limited. For this reason I try to keep learning on a daily basis, because together with drawing and 3D, photography is part of what makes me passionate to work with: the image.

I also really enjoy music, and although I always sang, played the guitar or since a couple of years the violocello, you can’t do everything and do it well, so music is a thing that I take withouth worrying too much about.

Currently I’m combining the work in my own artistic projects with teaching the tools and techniques I use myself on them. During last years I got the chance to know the mapping technique, first in projects with other professionals and then on my own. For this reason it’s right now a field of work relevant for me, both in the creative and the educational sides.

Since 2006 I’m using in an almost exclusive way free software tools. I have the same amount of problems that I had when I was using Microsoft Windows and cracked software. But now from solving these problems I take learnings that I find more interesting.
